Lady Ruth Veach, 86

Atlanta, Ga., resident (former longtime resident of McMinnville) and Tuscumbia, Ala., native Lady Ruth Veach, 86, was born Jan. 5, 1927 and died Nov. 30 at UniHealth Post Acute at Brookhaven in Atlanta, Ga., following a lingering illness.A homemaker and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Admiral Dewey and Willie Connie Sanders Slatton. She was married to Juel Edward Veach Sr., who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Leigh Johnson, and two brothers, Lester Grey Slatton and Jack Love Slatton.Mrs. Veach is survived by a son, Juel Edward Veach Jr., of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Kim Leigh Smith of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Nikki Johnson of Athens, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Sofia DiGeronimo and Ryan DiGeronimo; sister, Patsy Darlene Austin of Rock Island, and three brothers, Jim Slatton and Billy Joe Slatton, both of McMinnville, and Fletcher Slatton of Nashville.A graveside service and interment will be held at noon Thursday at Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs with Ben Bailey officiating.
