Mr. Kennith Layne Colwell, 74, of the Green Hill community, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Ascension Saint Thomas River Park in McMinnville. Mr. Colwell was a Navy veteran and a Christian. 

Mr. Colwell was born Aug. 26, 1947 in Smithville to his parents, the late Auvel and Annie Helen Reeder Colwell. He was also preceded in death by one brother Billy Colwell and one granddaughter Bethany Brock.

Mr. Colwell is survived by one daughter Melody (Dewey) Brock of Rock Island, two grandchildren Brittany Brock (Charlie) Redmon and Cody Brock of Rock Island, one sister Patty (Jerry) Cantrell, one brother Eddie Colwell, all of Smithville, sister-in-law Joeneal Colwell of Rock Island, several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services for Mr. Colwell will be Sunday, Oct. 3 at 2 p.m. at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home chapel. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Gardens of Memory in McMinnville. In lieu of flowers, please donate a book to Eastside Elementary School in memory of Mr. Colwell. The schools phone number is 931-259-4611, and donations can be made directly to them.
