J.W. Underhill, 75, of McMinnville (Centertown community) died Thursday, May 8 at his residence. Born April 11, 1939, in Cannon County, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired as a truck driver from Batesville Casket Co., served as mayor of Centertown and was a member of Unity Church of Christ. Mr. Underhill was preceded in death by his parents James and Bernice McDougal Underhill and son Steven Scott Underhill.Survivors include his wife Donna G. Underhill, children Lesa (Michael) Hillis and Misty (Brent) Warren, grandchildren Monica Hillis, Marisa Hillis, Spencer Warren and Parker-Alan Warren, brothers Wayne (Polly) Underhill and Lemuel (Anne) Underhill, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Myrna and Marvin Byars, half sister-in-law Sherry Patterson, and several nieces, nephews, and special cousins.Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel.
