Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Joyce Virginia Boyd, 77, was born July 8, 1935 and died Sept. 18 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville following an extended illness. A seamstress and member of the Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Lillie Marie Williams Boyd. She is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene and Leon Ware and Carolyn and Jim Powers, all of Rock Island, and Lemma and Lloyd Grissom of Tullahoma; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Pat Boyd, and Robert and Sarah Boyd, all of Chattanooga, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in High’s Chapel with Vernon Joines officiating.
