Johnnie Joseph Johnson Jr., 57, a Spencer resident and Northampton, Mass., native was born Oct. 22, 1960 and died Aug. 1, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
He was a truck driver with Big G Express, member of the Church of Christ, and son of Johnnie Melvin and Brenda Johnson of McMinnville and the late Dorothy Ann Reynolds Johnson. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by stepmother Grace Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was married Aug. 20, 2011 to Cynthia Anne Johnson of Spencer who survives. In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by four sons and spouses, Steven Johnson and fiancée Jennifer Helms of Georgia, Joseph and Cassie Johnson of McMinnville, Jason Johnson of McMinnville and Christopher and Ashley Martin of West Virginia; five daughters and spouses, Stephanie and Tom Shaffer of Kingsport, Renee Sanford of Ocala, Fla., Becky Sanford of West Virginia, Princess and Jeff Davis of West Virginia and Heather Fults of McMinnville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother George Beals of McMinnville; and two sisters, Cheryl and Chris Flatt of Spencer and Sheila Caffee of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, step-brothers and step-sisters also survive.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at High’s Chapel with Rick Lyles to officiate. Interment will follow at Long Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
