Johnnie Bruinsma Jr., 85, of McMinnville died Saturday, Sept. 26, at his home.
He was born Thursday, Dec. 19, 1929 in Wayland, Mich., the son of the late John Bruinsma and Myrtle Yerrington. He was a member of the Baptist Church, veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Free Masons, VFW, Moose Lodge and American Legion. In addition to his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Gloria Harris Bruinsma, grandparents Peter and Jennie Bruinsma, and brother Gene Bruinsma.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jeane Bruinsma of McMinnville, Cherie Morris and husband Steven of Fairhaven, Mich.; son John Bruinsma and Ken Painter of Murfreesboro; two grandsons, Andrew Johnson and wife Robin, Evan Johnson and Samantha, two granddaughters, Katie Morris, Stephanie Morris and Trevor; four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Will, Katie, and Autumn Johnson; two sisters, Anna and Don Peterman, Clara and Goody Goodman; best friends and coffee drinking buddies Howard, and Jennie; his special friends, Ms. Rita, and V.; several nieces, nephews.
The family will have a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Meals on Wheels in McMinnville, or the Fisher House in Murfreesboro.
