John V. Davis, M.D.

John V. Davis, M.D. died May 27 as the result of cancer.
He is survived by his wife Jean-Marie Davis and his three daughters, Laura Cole, Samantha Josephine, Natalie Ann Davis and his parents-in-law Don and JoAnn Fuqua, all of Hartselle.
Dr. Davis helped found the geropsychiatric unit at Hartselle Hospital in 1995 and was the medical director until 2006.
Dr. Davis grew up on a farm in McMinnville. He served six years active duty in the U.S. Navy, completed his undergraduate degree at Emory University in Atlanta then attended medical school at the College for Physicians and Surgeons in Memphis. His psychiatry residency was at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hartselle.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 29 at Hartselle First United Methodist Church.

Dr. Davis wrote before his death, “I cannot begin to thank all the friends, family, colleagues, neighbors and patients for all the prayers, well wishes, notes, cards, meals and love that have been sent my way over the last year. I am remarkably blessed to have been given the life I have had. And even more blessed to have experienced it with those who have traveled with me. Now, if you will excuse me, I have a wonderful adventure to start. My love to you all.”
