John Grady Haston, 73, died at his home in Jacksonville, Fla., Jan. 9.He was a Van Buren County native and a 1961 graduate of Van Buren County High. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was a true Marine.He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Haston and Josie Hitchcock Haston and one brother, Ralph Haston.He is survived by his wife, Linda Haston; sister, Charlotte (Bill) Heron of Chattanooga; nieces, Pam (Bill) Harvey of Chattanooga, Tambra (Carroll) Combs of Murfreesboro; stepdaughter, Michelle (Roger) West of St. Augustine, Fla.; stepson, Scott Smith of Houston, Texas; four step-grandsons and two step-great-grandsons.Services will be held at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla., Jan. 23 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made the Wounded Warriors Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.Southern Standard (McMinnville, Tenn.)
