John Firm Turner, 79, of McMinnville, Tennessee passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Monday June 13 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
Born on Sept. 22, 1935 he was one of 11 children born to Firm and Nora Turner.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Turner; his two daughters, Rene Wells, (David), and Tanya Hall, (Fred) and his two sons John and Greg Turner. He was loved by his seven grandchildren, John David Wells, Ryan Woodlee, Zachary Wells, Ally Woodlee, Elizabeth Wells, Matthew Wells and Paytan Hall. 
He is survived by his sisters, Janie Cantrell, Joyce Griffith, Karen Mathis (Perry), Anita Brown (Bill) and brother Doug Turner (Patsy), brother-in-law Thomas Chandler (Joan), and 30 nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Wayne and Charles Turner and his sisters, Earlene Nicks and Hazel Stevens.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1954 – 1958. He made his profession in the feed and agriculture industry and in retirement carried on that passion as an avid gardener and tender of the earth and his faith.
He is a member of the Mayland Church of Christ in Cumberland County and now attends West Riverside Church of Christ.  A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at West Riverside Church of Christ on Saturday beginning at 1 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Riverside Church of Christ (101 Bell Street, McMinnville, TN  37110) or to the American Heart Association (P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, Texas 75284-0692).
