Jimmy Dwayne Gunter Sr., 47, a resident of Spencer, died Sunday Jan. 27 at his residence after a 10-month battle with esophgeal cancer with his loving wife of 29 years, Frances Young Wallace Gunter, at his bedside.He was born in Roane County to parents, Richard Arthell Gunter (deceased) and Louella Wilson Gunter of Rock Island.He is survived by sons, Matthew (Amanda) Wallace of Sparta and Jimmy D. Gunter Jr. of Spencer; daughters, Mrs. Hattie (Robert) Sartin Jr. of Smithville and Miss Ella Gunter of Spencer; grandchildren, Jordan Matthew and Alexis Grace Wallace of Sparta, and Benjamin Robert Sartin of Smithville; brother, Allen (Vicky) Gunter of Rock Island, too many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles to name; special friends, Rick and Patty Simmons of Spencer, and Dave and Kimberly Cole of Doyle.Mr. Gunter worked as a welder/ pipefitter at Tennessee Metal Fabrications in Rock Island. He was also a cattle and farm hand, an avid fisherman, firearm and archery hunter and loved to ride ATVs, motorcycles and horses. He was an excellent mechanic and wonderful grill cook.In keeping with his wishes, his choice was cremation.
