Rock Island resident and Van Buren County native Jerry Levon McCormick, 80, was born Aug. 18, 1942 and died Nov. 10, 2022 at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville following a sudden illness.           

A retired custodian from West Elementary School and of the Baptist faith, he was the son of the late Charlie and Myra Roberts McCormick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Jerry Wayne McCormick, Donnie Lynn McCormick and Janice Lee McCormick; great-grandson, Colby Dewayne Spencer and many brothers and sisters.

Mr. McCormick is survived by two children, Barbara (Mark) Dickerson of Sparta, and Jimmy McCormick of Bone Cave; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; special friend, Rose Patrick of Rock Island and son-in-law, Terry Mason of McMinnville.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 in High’s Chapel with Corey Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
