Jerry Carl Stubblefield, a Warren County native and resident, was born Oct. 11, 1940, and died July 7, in his home at age 80.

He was a retired a teacher and administrator in the Warren County School System and an active member of Christ Community Church. He was the son of Kenneth Carl Stubblefield and Evelyn Malone Stubblefield who preceded him in death.

Mr. Stubblefield is survived by his wife of 55 years Brenda Bilbrey Stubblefield, son Brack Stubblefield of Murfreesboro, daughter Tara Stubblefield Woodlee (Jeff) of Knoxville, grandchildren Gordie Woodlee and Charley Elizabeth Woodlee, sisters Faye Prater and Kaye Stewart of McMinnville, and sister-in-law Charlene Bilbrey Groves (Gary) of Portland. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Jerry served others in a variety of ways during his lifetime as an educator, as county commissioner and Exchange Club president, leader in his church congregation, volunteer, husband, father, and friend. In recent years the role he enjoyed most was that of being “Pa Jer” to his two grandchildren. His gentle spirit and warm smile will be missed by those who knew him.

Funeral services, led by Jeremy Kliewer, Judith Roney, Mike Roberts, and Perry Cotham, will be held in High’s Chapel at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10. The family will receive visitors Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Stone Cemetery in Clay County at 2:30 p.m. with Teddy Jones officiating graveside.
