Jason Daniel Tallent, 38, passed away at his residence on July 14. He was born Nov. 3, 1982 to his mother, Hanneke Beets of Netherlands and his father, the late Odie Harrison Tallent.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by grandparents, Pearl Hutchings and Odie Brown Tallent, grandfather Anton Arend Cornelis Beets “Opa.” Mr. Tallent worked for the city of Smithville. He is survived by one son, Nicholas Hayden Tallent of Murfreesboro, mother Hanneke Beets of Netherlands, grandmother Gijsbert Everdine Hendrika Cornelli Sloots Overeem “Oma,” stepmother Patricia Tallent of Smithville, brother Josh (Jennifer) Tallent of Smithville, stepbrothers Javon Ross Hendrixson of Smithville, Louis Taft Hendrixson III, of Smithville, stepsister Jill Marie Goneke of Smithville, niece and nephews Nicholas Anthony Pendleton, Brantley Grayson Goneke, and Paris Monroe Grigsby, and several aunts and uncles also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, at 11 a.m. at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with burial at Old Bybee Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service at 11 a.m. Due to COVID-19 the funeral home lounge is closed and no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home.
