Janice Sue Doak, 75, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born Oct. 30, 1944 and passed July 20 at her residence following a sudden illness.
She was a retired bus driver with the Warren County School System, a member of the Church of Christ, and the daughter of the late John Benton and Della Mae Harris Carter. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Alvaretta George, June McCormick, and Jean Womack and brother, John Brown Carter.
Ms. Doak is survived by three sons, Barry Hawkins of McMinnville, Bryan Hawkins of Lakeland, Fla., and Brad (Ann) Hawkins of Rock Island, four grandchildren, Keisha Hawkins of McMinnville, Adam Hawkins of Chattanooga, Ryan Hawkins of Readyville, and Lily Hawkins of Rock Island, great-grandson, Kase Hawkins, two brothers Nick Carter and Albert Carter, both of McMinnville, sister Maxie Gordy of Las Vegas, Nev., and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at Mt. Holly Cemetery in DeKalb County with Joey Spicer officiating. No visitation will be held at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
