James Larry Mangum, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11.  

Larry was born in Smithville, on Jan. 24, 1932 to the late James Henry and Willie Hall Mangum. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Larry was deeply loved by his family and was a hero to them. He was a hard worker, working up to his last days on his bulldozers and anything he could find to tinker on. He was the backbone of his family and will continue to impact them each day with his wisdom and knowledge. He loved telling everyone he met about Jesus.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Donald Mangum, sister Mary Reid, and grandson James Charles (Charlie) Mangum.

Larry leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 64 years Rose Marie Jablonski Mangum of Morristown, TN; son Dr. Larry M. Mangum of Morristown, daughters Karen Rochelle of Gray, TN, Kathy (Mike) Angle of Bluefield, Va., Becky (Bryan) Mason of Piney Flats, brother Gayle (Susan) Mangum of Chattanooga, 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Stetzer-Bales Funeral Home in Morristown, TN.  Funeral service will follow with Rev. Jim Mathis and Rev. Don Beach officiating.  Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 14, at Dekalb Memorial Gardens at 12 noon Central time in Smithville with Rev. Mitch Evans officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Michael Lyons, Dustin Mason, Matthew Rochelle, Samuel Mangum and John Mark Mangum. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Morristown First Baptist Church Missions.
