J.W. Dodd, 86, of McMinnville (Centertown community) died Monday, April 18 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Warren County, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, member of Charles Creek The Baptist Church and a 50-year member of Warren Lodge No. 125 F&AM.
Mr. Dodd was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Mary Jane (Holder) Dodd; son Mark Dodd; sisters Bobby Jean Trusty and Dorothy June (Dot) Brock; brothers Charles, Willie James, Bluford, and Russell Dodd.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Marion (Holder) Dodd; daughters, Donna Dodd and Kay Dodd; granddaughter Maurie Brady Rambo; great-grandson Gage Rambo, all of McMinnville; sister and brother-in-law Linda and (Carl) Locke of Atlanta, Ga.; and brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and (Pinkey) Dodd of McMinnville. Many nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. today at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jonathan Womack will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery. Military graves rites will be administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. The Dodd family will receive friends today from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. A Masonic service was conducted Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
