Irma Akers Locke, 83, of McMinnville died Friday, May 11, at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was born Jan. 12, 1929, in Warren County and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper, and later owned and operated two children’s clothing stores in McMinnville. She was a member of Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church and attended MTSU. Mrs. Locke was preceded in death by parents, William Stokley and Bertha Lee Holder Akers; husband, William Wallace Locke Jr.; daughter, Myra Lee Chastain; sisters, Elwanda Martin and husband, Sterling and Euna Juanita Akers; and brother, Orion “Rooster” Akers and wife Florine.Survivors include daughter, Vickie Ray Chastain Kell; grandsons, Michael Bryan Kell and wife Kristen, Jeremy Ray Kell and wife Penny; beloved great-grandchildren, Shelbi Morgan Ogle, Logan Andrew Kell, and Phoebe Jadyn Kell, sisters Genay Thompson, Peggy Akers, and Eulene Ferrell and husband Jimmy H., and brother W.S. Akers Jr., and wife Queita.
