Houston Franklin Hale, 72, of Spencer died Wednesday, July 10, at his home.Houston was born in Spencer on Sept. 25, 1940, the son of Myrtle Flowers (Simmons) Hale and the late Clifton Andrew Hale.He is survived by his wife, Sharon D. (Murdock) Hale of Spencer; children, Darlisa R. Hale of Spencer, Teresa L. Tanner of McMinnville, Houston R. Hale and wife Heather of Spencer; grandchildren, Yolanda Boyd, Yvonne Banker, Alex and Ashton Hale, and five great-grandchildren; mother, Myrtle Flowers Simmons Hale of Spencer; siblings, Hugh L. Hale, Juanita Harding, Selva Wheeler, and Delilah McCarver, all of Spencer; and longtime friend Edward Janco.In addition to his father, Houston was preceded in death by son Wesley Mark Hale, and siblings Willie Isom Hale, Hubert Hale, and Betty Hale.Funeral service will be held at Spencer Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Robert Murdock and Freddie Harding officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Town Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. at Spencer Funeral Home.
