H.J. “Dick” Rush, 85, died Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Raintree Manor in McMinnville due to infirmities of old age. He was born in Scottsville, Ky., on Feb. 24, 1927 to Henry and Nora Elmore Rush. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviation machinist mate 3rd class and was a gunner and flight crew member on TBM Avenger torpedo bombers flying off aircraft carriers in the Pacific Theater.
