Henry Lee Hobbs, 80, of Athens, died Wednesday, May 29, at his residence. 

There was a 2 p.m. memorial service held Monday, June 3, at Clements Baptist Church at Poplar Creek with Charles Simmons officiating. 

Mr. Hobbs was born April 19, 1939 in McMinnville, the son of Henry and Callie Gooch Hobbs, now both deceased. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, he was employed for Lockheed in Ft. Worth, Texas and he worked for the Post Office in Huntsville, Ala.

Survivors include wife Annie Hobbs of Athens, son Anthony Hobbs of Sherman, Texas, daughters Rebecca Lynn Derrah of Randleman, North Carolina and Sherry Leigh Powell of Decatur, Ala., brothers Paul Hobbs and wife Jean of McMinnville, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Charles E. Hobbs, William Arliss Hobbs, James Claudine Hobbs, J.B. Hobbs, and sister Maggie McKenzie.
