Henry Hugh Starkey, 92, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native died Aug. 26 in NHC Healthcare of McMinnville following an extended illness.He was retired from the Ford Motor Company, a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps in World War II, member of the Church of Christ and son of the late Herman and Velma Bales Starkey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Vera Velma Argo Starkey; three brothers, Alford, Charles and Bill Starkey; and two sisters, Violet Barrett and Wilma Hennessee.Mr. Starkey is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Khyva Starkey of McMinnville; stepdaughter and step-son-in-law, Glenda and Eddie R. Cantrell of Rock Island; six grandchildren, Rick Stacy and wife Faye of Winchester, Dondi Volz and husband Geno of McKinney, Texas, Sean Curtis and wife Tamara of Crestview, Fla., Shane Curtis and wife Debbie of Lansing, Kan., Derrick Starkey of McMinnville and Dondi Starkey of Jonesville, S.C.; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at High’s Chapel with Kevin Deason to officiate. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery with military grave rites conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
