Goldie Ruth Mason Black, 75, of McMinnville died Friday, May 29, at River Park Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1940 in DeKalb County and was formerly employed as a housekeeper and also with the Senior Center, and was a member of Word of Life Ministries. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Ardelia Adcock Mason and sisters, Dafodean Jones Hillis, Daris Fay Morgan, and Sarah Osment.
Survivors include her husband, David H. Black; daughter, Pamela (Rick) Oakwood; sons, Jeffrey B. (Betty) Vandagriff Sr. and Robert (Bobby) Lewis (Misty) Vandagriff; brother, Maris Ray Mason; grandchildren, Bradley (Beth) Oakwood, Kelvin (Amanda) Oakwood, B.J. Vandagriff, Sumer Vandagriff, Hannah Vandagriff, and Aaron Vandagriff; and great-grandchildren, Allison, Alexandria, and C.J. Oakwood, Cameron and Cole Brock, Madison Hill, and James Vandagriff. Several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Jeff Page will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at
