Morrison resident and Cannon County native Gladys Young Prater, 85, was born May 17, 1930 and died Dec. 18 at Raintree Manor following an extended illness.
Retired from McMinnville Garment Company and a member of Morrison Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Houston and Hester Parker Young. She was married June 27, 1949 to Bobby Lloyd Prater, who preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2011. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shelah and Maurine Prater; and sister-in-law, Jean Young.
She is survived by daughter Pam Grizzle (Michael Jordan) of Morrison; son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Roxanne Prater of Morrison; grandson Cain Prater and wife Brandi of Christiana; granddaughter Chelsey Grissom and husband Mike of McMinnville; two great-grandsons Aiden and Asher Grissom; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; brother Millard Young of Woodbury; sister and brother-in-law, Flossie and Buell Warren of McMinnville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in High’s Chapel with Jon Simmons officiating. Burial will follow at Morrison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at High’s.
