George White Herman, 80, of McMinnville died Monday at his residence.
He was a retired nurseryman and a member of Short Mountain Church of God. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Charlie Stanton will officiate and burial will follow at Webb Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
Mr. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Hassie Herman; stepmother, Leona Herman; first wife, Bessie Marie Herman; son Lester Earl Herman; stepson Sam (Powell) Murphy; granddaughter Cassandra Ann; sisters Pearl Pittard, Daisy Herman, Clara Mai Caldwell; brothers Elmer Herman, J.E. Herman, Hoyte Herman, and Roosevelt (Toby) Herman.
Survivors include daughter, Ann Martin of McMinnville; son Eddie and wife Shirley Herman of Christiana; his wife, Jenny Johnson Herman; stepdaughter Vicky and Sam Linnear, all of Smithville; stepson, Charles Murphy Jr. of Woodbury; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; halfsister, Freda Jeanette and Robert Cox of McMinnville. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home of Smithville is in charge of arrangements.
