Rocky River resident and McMinnville native George M. “Cotton” Dodson Jr., 57, died May 2 at River Park Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.A construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran serving as a private in the Vietnam War, he was the son of George M. Dodson Sr., and the late Vina Yates Dodson; and was preceded in death by brother, Leonard Dodson; sister, Hazel Hennessee and nephew, Scottie Boyd.He is survived by son, Bruce W. and wife, Sandy Bush of Morrison; sisters June and husband Vernon Mears of Rocky River, Thelma and husband Jerry Boyd of Spencer, Phyllis and husband David Johnson of Tullahoma; best friend, Lonnie Roberts; grandchildren, Isaac Bush and Elijah Bush; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Wayne Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Crain Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
