Geneva Barr Carroll passed away peacefully Dec. 24, 2018 in The Woodlands. She was born June 15, 1930 in DeKalb County. Geneva has been a Woodlands resident since 1993 after retiring and moving from Baton Rouge, La.
Geneva is predeceased by Barby Ray Carroll, her husband of 62 years. She is survived by children Connie Carroll Feehan and husband Richard of The Woodlands, Elise Carroll Scanian and husband Dick of Boston, Barry N. Carroll and wife Ileana of The Woodlands, and grandchildren Timothy and Sean Carroll of The Woodlands. Geneva is survived by her siblings Roena Fuson, of Manchester, Chris Bouldin, of McMinnville, Earl Barr of McMinnville, and Gene Barr of Manchester. She also has many nieces and nephews living across the United States.
Geneva graduated from Oklahoma State University with a BS degree and then University of Mississippi with a MS degree. Geneva was on the teaching staff at both LSU and Ole Miss. She also accompanied Barby while he served in the military in Germany between those moves. After moving to Baton Rouge from Oxford, MS, Geneva received her PhD degree in sociology from Louisiana State University.
Geneva was an active member in The Woodlands United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school. She especially enjoyed quilting with the church Craft Circle for the annual church missions fundraising holiday event.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1 at 2 p.m. at the church chapel at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380. A reception will follow the service at the church library.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Woodlands United Methodist Church Foundation or to a charity of your choice in memory of Geneva.
