McMinnville resident and Davidson County native Gary Lynn “Pokie” Bottoms, 65, was born Nov. 23, 1946 and died June 4 at his residence following an extended illness.A retired employee of Custom Construction and member of the Church of Christ, he was the son of Billie Bottoms of McMinnville and the late Joe Dean Bottoms. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Alan Wayne Bottoms. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Christopher Bottoms of McMinnville; companion and caregiver, Donna Mitchell of McMinnville; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cadence Bottoms of Columbia; sister, Cheryl Jones of Hendersonville; nephew Brad Bottoms and wife Christy of Washington D.C.; niece, Dena Judkins and husband Tom of McMinnville; great-niece, Lauren Judkins; great-nephew Thomas Ryan Judkins; special friends Jimmy Martin, Ray and Julie Bradley and many more aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today in High’s Chapel with Doris Hughes officiating.
