McMinnville resident and Warren County native Gary Frank Powell, 71, was born April 1, 1952 and died May 23, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.

A retired forklift driver with Yorozu, he was the son of the late Frank Warner and Dorotha Louise Mullican Powell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Crim and Tommy Powell and sister, Patty Hobbs.

He was married to Elaine Powell of McMinnville on June 9, 1973. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Kip Powell of Sparta, Garrett Powell of McMinnville, Ren Powell of Mt. Juliet, Tony Watts of McMinnville and Tim Watts of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dayne Powell, Aiden Powell, Isaiah Powell, Ava Watts, Layla Powell, Sylvia Gault, Aleyah Watts, Christopher Washington, McKayla Watts, Savannah Watts, Lorelai Watts, Morgan Bell and Matt Freeborn and great-grandchildren, Talia and Charlie.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27 in High’s Chapel with Gary Newby officiating. Burial will follow at Grange Hall Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
