Garen Wayne Scott, 61, of McMinnville died Sunday, Jan. 8 at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro after an extended illness.
Mr. Scott was born in Fort Eustis, Va., on Aug. 4, 1950, a son of Betty L. (Eaton) Scott and the late Estel R. Scott.
He was the husband of Bobbie G. (Turner) Scott of McMinnville. He worked as a diesel mechanic at McMinnville Concrete Block Company for 25 years and Carrier Corporation for five years. He served in the U.S. Army as a private in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Garen Scott is survived by his mother, Betty L. Scott of Canon City, Colo.; son, Bobby W. and wife Lou-Shawna Scott, of McMinnville; two sisters, Cheryl L. Priest, of Canon City, Colo.; Dawna G. and husband Al Hastings, of Canon City. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Colt Layne Scott and Beretta Rayne Scott.
The family will receive friends today from 1 to 6 p.m. at Blues Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in McMinnville. The memorial service will be held today at 6 p.m. with the family officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
