Fred D. Humphrey, son of the late Joseph and Jessie Dixon Humphrey, was born Aug. 10, 1921 in Hazel Green, Ala., and died May 30 at White River Medical Center in Batesville, Ark., at age 90.He married Ruby Cathey and they had one son, Jerry Humphrey. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Humphrey of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; son, Jerry Humphrey and wife, Judith, also of Mammoth Spring; two grandchildren, Joy Poulette and husband, Donald of Mammoth Spring, and James Humphrey and wife, Novella of Melbourne, Ark.; five great-grandchildren, Casey, Tyler and Sammy Poulette of Mammoth Spring, and Jared and Natalie Humphrey of Melbourne; one brother, Charlie Humphrey and wife, Marie and two sisters, Jean Northcutt and Louise Persall, all of McMinnville, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Humphrey and six brothers, Bill, Davis, Shelby, Elbie, Joseph Jr. and Floyd Humphrey.He was a veteran, proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Masonic Lodge No. 418, Mammoth Spring Lions Club and Mammoth Spring United Methodist Church.Funeral services were held Friday at Carter Funeral Home Chapel at Thayer, Mo.
