Mrs. Emma Lee Owens, 89, of McMinnville, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. She was born on March 23, 1935 in McMinnville, graduated from Central High School in 1953, earned her certificate from Tennessee Business College, and worked as a secretary for Tom Bragg Insurance, T.F. Burroughs Insurance, Dr. W.W. Davis, and Dr. Glen Davis. Emma Lee just absolutely loved her church and church family. She was very active in church - in the children’s department, where she worked in the nursery, with Mission Friends, and VBS, and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU). She enjoyed walking, reading, spending time with grandkids and going to state parks with her husband.

Survivors include her son, Barry (Tonya) Owens; brother, Earl (Brenda) Anderson; sister, Louise Moore; grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Lockridge and Blake Owens; and great-grandchildren, Brinley Deaton, Levi Deaton and Emma Kate Lockridge. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marshall Brown Anderson and Ola Delphine Fleming Anderson; husband of 54 years, Robert H. Owens; grandson, Casey Anderson Owens; sister, Ola Brown (Anthony) Cope; brother, William Lewis Anderson; and brother-in-law, David Moore.

The funeral service for Emma Lee Owens will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m. in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Jeff Owens will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again Thursday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
