McMinnville resident and native Emma Irene Beard, 88, died Feb. 1 at River Park Hospital after an extended illness.Retired from Oster after 15 years of service and a member of the Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William and Beulah Lusk Carr and was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Beard; sisters, Elmer L. Pleasant, Roberta Drake, Audie Marie Johnson, Jennie Woods, Goldie Grayson, Lula Carr; and brothers, Eugene Carr, Jess Carr, Luther Martin and Clarence Worthington.He is survived by sisters, Minnie Geraldine Watson of Detroit, Mich., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Staphin Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Charge Cemetery.
