McMinnville resident and Warren County native Elvin Curtis, 81, was born Sept. 27, 1931 and died July 12 at River Park Hospital following an extended illness.A farmer and nurseryman who attended the Church of Christ, he was the son of the late John Jeff and Mattie McGee Curtis. He was married Dec. 1, 1951 to Mabel Rene Hennessee Curtis, who preceded him in death Feb. 7, 2008. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy Husky; and special cousins, Sam McGee, Lorene McGee and Albert Martin.He is survived by daughter, Sharon Curtis Patrick of McMinnville; grandson, Jason Patrick and wife Tabitha of McMinnville; three great-grandchildren, Lucas, Kendall and Jenna Patrick, all of McMinnville; sister, Ruby Hayes of Covington, Ga.; nephew, Curtis Hayes of Covington, Ga.; and niece, Carlie Groover of Duluth, Ga.He was a longtime resident of the Fairview community, but he grew up in and loved the Dark Hollow area.
