Eldon C. “Radar” Currey Jr., 64, of McMinnville died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 1 in Atlanta, Ga., on his job.
He was born in Burns, Ore., on March 4, 1947, the son of the late Eldon C. and Lillian B. (Bateman) Currey. He is the husband of Barbara F. (Bonner) Currey of McMinnville.
He attended New Hope Baptist Church and was a truck driver for C&W Trucking Company in Altamont. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Airman 3rd Class in the Vietnam War Era.
He is survived by two daughters, Tina R. and husband Javar Serna of McMinnville, Regina O. and husband Albert Johnson of McMinnville; two sons Eldon C. and wife Heather Currey III of McMinnville, Rodney A. and wife Jessica Currey of McMinnville; three sisters, Alice and husband Roger Goethisies of Portland, Ore., Jacqueline and husband Marvin Webb of Emmett, Idaho, Eleanore and husband Richard Duke of Burns, Ore.; brother, John G. Currey of Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren, Alia, Eliana Currey, Trent, Summer, Bryan Currey, Damon, Deven, Alysia, Luis Serna, Harley, Zac Johnson, and one great-grandson, Joshua Grove.
He was preceded in death by parents, Eldon C. and Lillian B. (Bateman) Currey, and one son, Carl Gene.
Funeral service was held Monday at Gardens of Memory Funeral Home with Danny Barnes officiating. Interment followed at Cantrell Cemetery in Smithville with military graveside rites administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
