Elbert Lee Grissom, 84

Elbert Lee Grissom, 84, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born April 23, 1936 and passed Oct. 26 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville following an extended illness.

He was retired with the City of McMinnville, a member of the Church of Christ, and the son of the late Ben Clifton and Louella Scott Grissom. He was an extraordinary hunter and always willing to hunt the groundhogs and coyotes for the farmers.

Mr. Grissom was married Nov. 1, 1957 to Walta Mae Rhea Grissom, who preceded him in death Jan. 1, 2020. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Dorothy Grissom and sister Sarah Frances Rogers.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Terry and Mary Grissom of McMinnville, three grandchildren and spouses, Brittany and Cody Campbell of McMinnville, Tiffany and Blake Sadlon of Morrison, and Toby and Brittney Watts of McMinnville, and 11 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at Bascom Cemetery with Phillip Clemons officiating. Friends are to meet at the cemetery. No public visitation will be held at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
