McMinnville resident and Hobbs Island, Ala. native James Raymond Mize, 78, was born June 8, 1944 and died Nov. 16, 2022 at his residence following an extended illness.
A retired truck driver for APAC and of the Baptist faith, he was the son of the late James Leon and Jimmie Lee Guthrie Mize. He was married to Brenda Mize of McMinnville on March 6, 1965. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Linda Cook and Peggy Conley.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Mize is survived by children, Johnny Mize (Christy Wilmore) and Scotty (Christy) Mize, both of McMinnville and Dodie (Daniel) Chisam of Morrison; grandchildren, Tyler Mize, Harli (Hayden) Nunley, Logan Mize, Austin Mize, Rylie Chisam, Tray Mize and Addye Mize; great-grandchildren, Thomas Nunley and Weston Nunley and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19 in High’s Chapel with Eugene Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Shellsford Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at High’s.
