Dorothy Mae Young Carter, 81, died peacefully at her home June 26. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie C. Young and Ruthie Gilley Young. She was a lifelong resident of the Short Mountain community in Cannon County. She was a charter member of the New Short Mountain Methodist Church. She retired from MagneTek Century Electric in 1993 and began mowing yards all over Cannon County which she did for the next 15 years. She will be remembered by her Ford pickup pulling a trailer with John Deere lawnmowers and her cap she always wore.
She is survived by her son, Eddie (Debi) Youngblood and her daughter, Vickie Youngblood Griffith, both of the Short Mountain community; grandchildren, Mark (Laurie) Youngblood, Marty (Cheryl) Youngblood, Matt Youngblood, Amanda (Josh) Thomas and Ashley (Devin) Young; great-grandchildren, Cason, Daylen, Kaylee, Hattie, Peyton and Camden; step-granddaughter, Amber (Keith) Boehman; step-great-grandson, Brent Boehman; special son,  James “Cookie” Cook and caregiver Lisa Miller Andrews.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Rev. Don Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 10 a.m. until time of service at Woodbury Funeral Home, 615-563-2311.
