Dorothy Frances King died Sunday, Oct. 21. She was born Sept. 2, 1927, in McMinnville.
Dorothy attended University of Georgia and Mary Baldwin College. She spent a year in New York studying interior design. When she returned to McMinnville, she opened and operated an interior design business called Studio of Design.
Dot, as we called her, was full of talent and joy. She was sweet and could be very spicy, as most Southern women are. She enjoyed creating art with gourds, painting, sewing, collecting antiques and coins, and many other artistic endeavors. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. She worked many years at the Roswell consignment store, Board of Trade, where her love for antiques and those who loved them shone through. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Dot was the daughter of Allene Caldwell King and Marshall Paty King. She is survived by sister and brother-in-law Carole King Moss and Bryan Moss; sister Annette King Fann; niece Andrea Ferrard; nephew J Moss; niece Lisa Fann Powell; niece Marsha Fann; and many beloved grandnieces and grandnephews.
The family will hold a memorial service in December when all the family can be together. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her honor to Heifer International, https://www.heifer.org, or the Alzheimer’s Association, https://alzfdn.org/.
