Donald William Caldwell, 79

Rock Island resident and Quincy, Illinois native Donald William Caldwell, 79, was born Aug. 17, 1943 and died Feb. 1, 2023 at his residence following an extended illness.           

Mr. Caldwell was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Air Force, attended Campaign Church of God, a member of the Gideons International for 15 years and was a retired employee of the U.S. Department of Labor. He was the son of the late McDonald and Ruth Marie Kalbus Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Melvin Caldwell.

Mr. Caldwell was married to Kathy Caldwell of Rock Island on July 28, 1988. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Steven (Maria) Peterson of Nevada, Sandra (Dwight) Day of McMinnville, Darin Peterson of Iowa, Loretta (Raymond) Vick-Axtell Caldwell of Iowa, Jodi Peterson of Washington and Eric (Jennifer) Peterson of Iowa; thirteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and cousin, Terry (Sherrie) Caldwell of Iowa.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2023 at Campaign Church of God with Jarvis Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Warren County. There will be no service or visitation at High Funeral Home.

Full military honors will be administered by American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
