Don W. “Scootie” Neal, 78, of McMinnville died Friday, Aug. 17 at River Park Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1934, in DeKalb County, was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and was a retired brick mason. He was preceded in death by his parents Schulyer Glen and Willie Brown Griffith Neal, son Lee Joseph Neal, grandson Johnny Don Neal, and sister Sarah Neal.
Survivors include his wife Kathy Neal; sons, Terry Glenn Neal, Johnny Keith Neal and Kaye, Larry E. Drewer Jr., and Rose Anna; daughter, Melissa Jenkins and Darrin; sister, Glenda Faye Young and Phillip; grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Neal, Dalton Scott Jenkins, Kelsey Drewer, Blake Jenkins, Kandra Drewer, and Alexandra Jenkins; two great-grandchildren, niece Angela Hayes with Darron Thrower; and a great-nephew, Tyler Hayes. Several special friends and family members also survive.
A gathering of friends will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 25 at the residence of Melissa and Darrin Jenkins, 726 Bill Webb Road, McMinnville. Phone number is 931-939-5021. Military grave rites will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the American Legion Post 173 and VFW Post 5064.
