McMinnville resident and Grundy County native Delbert “Delva” Myers, 85, was born July 27, 1932 and died Sept. 20 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville following a sudden illness.
A retired timber worker and a member of the Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Calvin and Grace Hobbs Myers. He was married to Betty Sue Brady Myers, who preceded him in death on April 18, 1975. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Tarzan and Jane Myers.
He is survived by six children and their spouses, William and Brenda Myers, Kay and William Garrison, and Lee and Wanda Myers, all of McMinnville, Jo and Steve Burdette of Tampa, Fla., Carson Myers of Livingston and Jennifer and Jeff Doane of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Elmer, Mary and Roy Myers.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Coffee County. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at High’s. Online condolences may be made at www.highfuneralhome.com.
