Daniel W. Locke Jr., 82, of Plano, Ill., (formerly of McMinnville), died Wednesday, July 31 in Naperville, Ill.
He was born Feb. 28, 1931, in Warren County and was an all-star basketball player while in McMinnville, a 35-year employee of Caterpillar, an avid fisherman, and reader. Mr. Locke was preceded in death by parents Daniel W. and Mabel Sellars Locke Sr.; a sister, Sally Cope, and brothers Aubrey and Howard Locke.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Allen Locke of Plano, Ill.; twin daughters, Pam (Tom) Wood of Aurora, Ill., and Tami Seperack of Oswego, Ill., granddaughter, Alyssa Seperack of Oswego; grandsons Alec Seperack of Oswego, Zachary Wood and Nicklaus Wood, both of Aurora; sisters, Nelda Turner of Chattanooga, and Lavern Ours of McMinnville; and brother, Carl (Linda) Locke of Snellville, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Nick Pelham will officiate. Interment will follow at Charles Creek Cemetery. The Locke family will receive friends Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m., and again Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
