McMinnville resident and Sequatchie County native Daisy Lee Groves, 89, was born July 28, 1923 and died Sept. 8 at her residence following a sudden illness.A retired employee of Genesco and member of Bethany Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Margaret Joanna Reece Martin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy June Copeland; four sisters, Agnes Davis, Mary Irene Yates, Grace Martin and Callie Martin, and three brothers, Clarence, Bill Willis and Ivie Martin.She was married Aug. 31, 1940 to Oscar Groves of McMinnville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Lewis Martin of Maryville; son-in-law, Thomas Wayne Copeland of McMinnville; sister-in-law, Beatrice Martin of Alabama; brother-in-law, James Thomison of McMinnville; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews.Funeral service was held Tuesday in High’s Chapel with David Costello and Titus Ward officiating.
