McMinnville resident and DeKalb County native Cornelia “Tooter” Adcock Powell, 84, was born Dec. 29, 1928 and died Oct. 28 at her residence following an extended illness.A retired employee of Rockford Textile Company and member of Smyrna Church of Christ, she was the daughter of the late Arlie and Mandy Cantrell Adcock. She was married Dec. 25, 1948 to Edward “Red” Powell, who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by grandson Andy Southard.Mrs. Powell is survived by four children and their spouses, Ronald and Diana Powell, Eileen and Ron Southard, Gerane and Lou Benkarski, and Kathy and Rudie Thomsen, all of McMinnville; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Elizabeth Adcock of McMinnville; sister, Joyce Southard of McMinnville; grandchildren, Tammy (Dan) Fults, Richard (Angie) Sexton, Jesse Powell, Eddie Southard, Dathan (Paige) Todd and MaCrae Thomsen, all of McMinnville, and Galen Todd of Queens, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Cameron Fults, Emily Fults, Ashlynn Fults, Ava Sexton, Laurel Todd, Leah Todd and Marli Southard; special niece, Korena Adcock and special nephew, Trent Adcock, both of McMinnville, and several nieces and nephews.Funeral service was held Oct. 30 at Smyrna Church of Christ with Billy Reed, Jonathan Stubblefield and Ronald Powell officiating.
