McMinnville resident and Sparta native Charles Edward Officer, 60, died unexpectedly Sept. 4 at River Park Hospital.A transportation proprietor and a member of the Church of Christ, he served his country in the U.S. Army.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Allen McKinley of Murfreesboro; sons and daughter-in-law, Danny and Melissa Womack of Sparta, and Brendan Breedlove of Rock Island; grandsons Logan Womack and Cloby McKinley; granddaughter, Taylor McKinley; mother, Georgia Officer of Sparta; brothers and sister-in-law, Leonardo and Mary White of Sparta, and Norman Burton of Murfreesboro; uncle Herbert Officer of Sparta; aunts Aline Strode Wood of Sparta, and Jeanette Officer of Sparta; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Officer; and grandparents, Willie Frances and Mac Officer and Nottie Wilburn.Services were held Thursday at High’s Chapel with George King officiating.
