Charles E. “Chuck” Burgen, 78, of Pekin, Ind. passed away Monday, Jan. 30 in Robley Rex V.A. Medical Center of Louisville, Ky. 
Born May 31, 1933 in Chadron, Neb., he was the son of the late William and Verna (Harlan) Burgen. He married Aug. 25, 1957 to Edith Ann (Hollrah) Burgen, who survives. He was a long-time minister serving various congregations over the years and he helped develop and served as director of the Paul Phillippe Senior Resource Center in Frankfort, Ind. He was a member of the Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, and attended the Bunker Hill Christian Church. He served during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army.  
Survivors include daughter, Julie Ann (Billy) Wood, McMinnville; son, James Michael (Robin) Burgen, Erie, Colo.; four brothers, Richard Burgen, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jack Burgen, Athens, Ala., Art Burgen, Paducah, Ky., and Larry Burgen, Sherman, Texas; two sisters, Ruby Campbell, Blair, Neb., and Linda Arbaugh, Fremont, Neb. He is also survived by three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister. 
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bunker Hill Christian Church. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dawalt Funeral Home in Salem, Ind., and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery.
