Buford Keeton, 84, of McMinnville died Saturday, May 23, at Webb House Retirement Center in McMinnville after an extended illness.
He was born Wednesday, June 25, 1930 in Pikeville, Ky., the son of the late Omar Keeton and Eliza Jane (Hawkins) Keeton. He was a retired coal miner and developer and a member of Bridges of Hope Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy Keeton McClain and husband Mike of McMinnville, Sandra Keeton of Nicholasville, Ky.; son, Kirby Keeton of Ashland, Ky.; sister, Helen Bentley of Southgate, Mich.; five grandchildren, Courtney Anne McClain Rutherford and husband Jason, Caitlin Mica’ McClain Locke and husband Bradley, Scott Keeton and wife, Traci, Kirby Keeton and wife Katie, and Shaunna Mellons.
He leaves behind eight great-grandchildren; Sarah Kate and Liam Rutherford, Logan and Maddy Keeton; Brady, Olivia, and Hadley Mellons; and Juniper Keeton. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and very special friend Vida Fann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Omar Keeton and Eliza Jane (Hawkins) Keeton; brother, Charles Keeton and sister, Verneal Keeton Hert.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. with DeWayne Howard officiating. Interment will follow at Keeton Cemetery in West Liberty, Ky. In lieu of flowers, the family request donation to Alzheimer’s research, Meals on Wheels, or Kids of The Community. Online condolences may be made to the family at gardensofmemoryfuneralhome.com.
