Funeral services for Brenda Ann Adcock Upton, 71, of Shelbyville, will be held at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Scott Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Upton died Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Heritage Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born April 2, 1944 and was the daughter of Armilda J. Martin and the late Leon Adcock and is preceded in death by her husband Buddy Kirby in 1984. She was a homemaker, former member of the CASA Board, The Walking Horse Trainers Auxiliary, and a faithful member of Midland Heights Baptist Church.
She is survived by children, Cliff Carlock of Shelbyville, Brad Kirby of Shelbyville, Lee (Becca) Upton of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Josh Carlock, Kirby Carlock, Lane Upton, CharliAnn Kirby, Robin Pennington; great-grandchild, Anna Claire Pennington; and sister Nancy Adcock (Tommy) Stewart of Alabama.
Known for her bright personality and caring spirit, she will be greatly missed by all. She was an avid horse show enthusiast for over 50 years. She was also known for her great culinary skills and entertaining expertise. She loved her family and most of all her Lord.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Midland Heights Baptist Church building fund.
