Bobby William Newby, 82, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born Nov. 4, 1934 and died April 28 at his residence after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Mr. Newby was a retired educator and coach of various sports at Tennessee Preparatory School in Nashville, Dyersburg and Warren County and a member of the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, member of the Church of Christ, and son of the late John William and Linda Lee Ray Newby.
