Bobby William Newby died April 28 at his residence.

Bobby William Newby, 82, a McMinnville resident and Warren County native, was born Nov. 4, 1934 and died April 28 at his residence after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Mr. Newby was a retired educator and coach of various sports at Tennessee Preparatory School in Nashville, Dyersburg and Warren County and a member of the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, member of the Church of Christ, and son of the late John William and Linda Lee Ray Newby. Mr. Newby was married Aug. 1, 1952 to Reba Jo Hill Newby, who preceded him death in 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by niece, Rene Brown.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Newby of McMinnville, Debbie and Trent Hall of Memphis, and Denise Newby and Richard Miller of McMinnville; nine grandchildren, Andrew Miller and fiancée Tracey Madewell, Newby Parton, John Lawson Armstrong, Heath Armstrong, Cameron Armstrong Conn, Alan Miller, Philip Miller, Tyler Miller and Casey Miller; numerous great-grandchildren and cousins; niece Gaye Lentz; cousins Carl Douglas and Pam Newby of Gallatin and Rebecca Carol and Joel Greene of Old Hickory; and special cousins, Frank and Peggy Ann McColloch of Viola, and Juanita and Bob Cantrell of Morrison.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, at High’s Chapel with Wayne McNeal to officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery. Visitation will be noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, and 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at High’s. Donations may be made to the  American Cancer Society or Warren County Relay for Life.
