Former Viola mayor and community activist Billy Reynolds Underwood, 78, died Aug. 18.A member of Westwood Church of Christ, he served as song leader at Viola, Rockliff and Westwood churches of Christ. He served his county in the U.S. Navy as a radioman and was then employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the 1960s.He served as mayor of Viola and was also the vice mayor there for over 20 years. He was a founding member of the original On the Road Again Show which raised money for many charitable needs as well as money to build bleachers, build tennis courts and place lights and gazebo in his beloved Viola Valley.
